81 Years... and many more to go!!!

Happy 81st birthday to my Grandpa!!!!! We had a little dessert celebration the other day for the old man! We also celebrated Ina's birthday; she turned the big 8-0 a few days before.

Ina is such a sweetheart!! We really are blessed to have her in our lives! It is always a little nervous when a family member remarries after a death of a loved one... I have heard so many horror stories about them taking them away from the family etc. But we truly have the best 'step' grandma we could have hoped for!!

Ina lived in my Grandparents ward for many years; in fact when my grandma got so sick at the end, Ina came down to clean the house for her because she was too worn out to do it! She visited with my grandma and I know it meant a lot to her!

She has been so wonderful since marrying Grandpa, she invited the family over to dinner at her house (surely in an effort to make us feel comfortable there) and has been more than willing to spend time with Clyde's crazy bunch!! I am sure we overwhelm her, she is far more proper and distinguished than us- although never makes us feel that she feels that way! She is a wonderful cook and a very talented painter.

She always greets us with hugs and me with a 'you're such a pretty girl!'. She truly is a dear and more than anything I am thankful she has been there for my grandpa and taken such good care of him! I am so happy to know he is not alone! We are very blessed to have it be Ina whom Grandpa married!! We are happy she is a part of the family and love her for the sweetheart that she is!!
My Grandpa is seriously one of the absolute best people I know! (I am not just saying that because its his birthday and I have to say something nice about him!)

I truly do not know anyone who could say one bad thing about him! What a wonderful way to live your life, with no enemies!! Grandpa is kind, thoughtful, and ok... just a little bit sarcastic :) He will help ANYONE with ANYTHING and has spent millions of hours in his life doing projects for his kids.

He is loyal.... to his family that he loves, to the 10 o'clock news (I never worry calling him late at night because I know he is up watching the news- I have however startled him a time or two as he has started to doze off right before the weather), to his Church and his Savior, to the BYU Cougars, and to his beloved game of golf!

I really don't think he could hurt a fly and I have never heard him say one negative word about anyone. He truly is an amazing man. My favorite thoughts of my grandpa are in the sweet tender memories I have of the way he took care of his sweetheart, my grandma. She was a feisty little gal and grandpa was patient and loving every step of the way. The night before she died- she was not very responsive at all- he held her all night long knowing he did not have much time left with her. I will never forget the loving way he cared for her not only in those last few months but throughout her whole life!!

I loved sleeping over at Grandma and Grandpa's house, waking up to watch The Price is Right while Grandpa made me 'hotcakes' for breakfast!!

He is sweet as can be but surely a stubborn fellow as well!! He doesn't complain about ANY pain he has... even to the point where Grandma had to call in the big guns (tough aunt Kristen) to get Grandpa to go to the hospital when he was having signs of a heart attack. He just wanted to relax in his famous Lazy boy until the pain would surely go away!

I love my Grandpa soooo much. I have always felt like I am the favorite Granddaughter :) but the more observant I get the more I realize that he makes everyone feel like they are the favorite. I've known forever that I wanted to marry someone like my Grandpa- I don't know if there is any bigger compliment than that! (I think I got pretty close:)) And the best thing about him??? He was a Davis Dart!

Happy birthday Grandpa!!!!!!!!!! I love you SO SO SOOOO much! I know you still have many years left in that body of yours, and you better stick around for a long time or you'll have to deal with me!
