My First 'Awake' Stitches

Yup! I slipped in the shower and punched a hole through the side of the bathtub with my knee! Only 3 stitches but a little embarrassing! No, I was not dancing as many people have asked! I was reaching for my towel I forgot to get out of the cupboard.... Be careful in the shower people! When you slip there is nothing to grab onto except slickery walls! Thankful this happened AFTER the cruise :)

I am going to start blogging from my phone so if anything is messy or silly you'll know why :).

This is my cute friend Carlie. She was one of my Young Women and is truly an amazing person.

The other day I drove out to West Jordan to sit on her porch for an hour and just talk. It was so fabulous. We laughed and we cried and it felt great.

Carlie has cancer. She has a grapefruit sized tumor on her lung. She is only 19 years old. She is so positive and upbeat. She has lots of faith in that little body of hers.

I won't share too much personal info because I love and respect her so much but I will share what I learned and felt: Life is short. Focus on the things that matter. One day it won't matter what car I drove or what outfit I bought or if I'm having a bad hair day. Soon Carlie won't have any hair, but she will still have her family, her testimony, her beautiful smile and attitude. It won't matter what she looks like but it will matter how she treated those around her. She is so kind and sweet and makes me want to be a better person!!

I feel bad life is hard and has to teach us painful lessons. But, I do know we only see a small glimpse of the whole picture. The whole picture is going to rock!!

Til then, remember what matters most and hug them often!

RoDeO!

 We LOVE the Davis County Rodeo!  A Family tradition that everyone loves.  We went both nights and had a blast!

 Night one Cole came with us since his wifey was away on vacation and he was a bachelor. Good times!

 Night two was my parent's 34th Anniversary!  They are so nice that to celebrate THEY took all of US out!  I feel like something is wrong with that!  Gma and Gpa Hill came along as well, they LOVED the Rodeo. We ate dinner at Bandidos in Layton, if you haven't gone there, you should!

 At the fair they had helicopter rides.  Holy Cow!  We decided the old folks needed some excitement to keep them young and since my dad is so awesome he insisted we go for a ride as well.  It was so fun!  And only a little bit scary!  Check that right on off of my bucket list! Thanks Daddy!

 Grandpa standing up as we clapped for all the veterans.  SO proud of him and SO thankful for all those who serve/have served for this wonderful country and our freedoms!  THANK YOU!!!

 This is probably our favorite part of the rodeo- this amazing cowboy Calvin Amy riding his beautiful horse around while they play "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" by Toby Keith.  I've got lots of patriotism running through my veins and this chokes me up every year!  GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Later in the night Calvin was thrown off his horse while helping a cowboy escape his bucking horse.   It was pretty scary watching him lay on the floor while the medics tried to help him.  We later found out he broke 5-7 ribs, ruptured his spleen, and colapsed his lung.  We tried to go visit him at the hospital but he had been discharged so cute Kannon mailed him a picture he drew (of the above photo) with a note telling him he was the coolest cowboy in the world and he hopes he gets better soon :)

 After the Rodeo we took my Grand-folks over to the neat-o fountain in Farmington and finished off the night with a water show.

We had a fantastic weekend!  Makes me love Summer and love the USA!  Happy Anniversary to the parentals!  Love them for all they are and for all they do!  Happy Summer!
